Both robots are good in removing dirt and dust particles on carpets and hard floors and can move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. The i3+ doesn't feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested. It may get stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.
iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it left off. Battery life is about an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes 3 hours to fully charge.
2. Roomba by iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot and is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most important feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or via voice.
The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room and vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. When connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that produces power without fading for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to make it difficult for other robots I've tried.
